Masala Papad Recipe

An easy to prepare Indian snack that is healthy.
  • 8 papad / appalam
  • 1 medium-sized red onion
  • 1 medium-sized tomato
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • coriander leaves for garnishing
  1. Finely chop the red onion and set aside.
  2. Deseed the tomato. Chop the tomatos finely.
  3. Place a frying pan on the stove over medium heat. Roast the papad without any oil. Use a wooden laden to flip and press down on the papad while roasting. This is to prevent the papad from curling up
  4. Sprinkle a layer of onion. Sprinkle a layer of tomato
  5. Garnish with coriander leaves
  6. Sprinkle chaat masala powder (I recommend half a tablespoon per papad)
  7. Your masala papad is ready to be served
You can add cucumber in addition to tomato and red onion
For a tangy masala papad, use raw mango in addition to tomato and red onion
For an unhealthy version, apply ghee onto both sides of the papad. Microwave it for 60 seconds.
