Feng Shui Insights

Awesome August – The Elements of the month are PURE METAL – YANG in essence!

The Dog and Monkey may get along so long as they share common interests but basically do not make for positive work colleagues.
The essence of the monkey is Metal and Dog is Earth. Earth is the mother (the giver element) for the Monkey providing protection, shelter and home. Monkey energy is active, aggressive, energetic, frank and naughty and at times can be impatient, irritable and impulsive. Monkeys clearly know what they want often changing course forcing them to face continual life challenges in order to achieve their goals efficiently. With the sincere and earnest attitude of the dog, who encourages the monkey to change attitude and sometimes it’s current course being in a position to learn from each other. Then Monkey will know how to calm down and think twice before making decisions this month, however, they may feel they are loosing their freedom because of too many restrictions from the year of the dog. With too many obstacles and lack of space to move forward – the dog is teaching patience.

There is a rhythm to the flow of life, to the changing season and to the transformation of yin into yang and back into yin again. From the cold of winter into spring and the warmth of summer…

then back to the coolness of autumn and winter again. Yin into yang and back into yin again. Keep the natural balance of energy in mind and go with the flow. As we are now entering the autumn season in the Chinese calendar it’s a good time to continue to be aware of our emotions – the results we achieve from their protection and what we wish to achieve by the year’s end. Following
on from last month when we addressed FEAR we continue to address the emotion of ENVY.

AUGUST the month of the HUNGRY GHOST think twice before acting and remain safe due to this being the HUNGRY GHOST month (August 25th with the 26th being the night of the full moon. Many Chinese temples put on feasts and opera shows with plenty of music, incense and paper offering to ancestors. During this time it is said that the yin overpowers the yang – meaning that yin chi dominates the home. If your house lacks natural light in some areas or if your chi energy is low or depleted you may be emotionally affected and super sensitive so keep the home well lit to balance the onset of autumn (Chinese calendar) and to balance the yin and yang energies. Wear bright colours. The best thing you can do is to appease with offerings of prayer and incense…so read on!

It is culturally advised to avoid going swimming.

Don’t move house or start a new business or get married during Hungry Ghost Period!
Avoid hiking and jungle ventures to prevent chances of injury
Drive with caution, no speeding and avoid accidents. Take your time.
Keep your forehead clean and free of head cover and avoid placing your hands on your shoulders. It is said that everyone has three flames on the body; one on each shoulder and one on the forehead. Touching them is said to put out the flame and weaken your internal energies.

The Final WORD…..

The energy of the Hungry ghost can make human energy super sensitive so beware that you may encounter some misunderstandings and unusual tension. While you cannot do anything about people gossiping or what they say about you, you can control your reaction towards them. Sometimes we blow things out of proportion and end up hurting ourselves because of our perceptions.
