Hrithik: A superhero onscreen and offscreen

Entertainment

It was a typical Saturday morning; however, little did I imagine that one phone call would change my day. I was tasked by our editor to cover the Krrish 3 press conference. I was so happy that I literally fell off my bed! I finally had the rare opportunity to meet one of the biggest superstars of Bollywood. It was my moment of a lifetime and I was super excited to go out and represent our Little India Directory team at the press conference.

Greek-god incarnate superstar, Hrithik Roshan was in town for a press conference at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. He is one of the very few personas in the Bollywood film fraternity, who has the ability to strike a roller-coaster of emotions with just his presence. Hrithik surely turned up the heat as he walked into the meeting room. In that moment I forgot I was breathing, went weak in my knees and felt like a teenager being swept off her feet by her heartthrob hero!

The stalwart 39-year-old was looking cool in his Khaki green Ray ban wayfarers and blue jeans; he truly charmed me with his distinguished charisma and down-to-earth attitude. Hrithik was accompanied by his director-producer father Rakesh Roshan, to promote their upcoming movie Krrish 3, the third film in the franchise of films that began with “Koi Mil Gaya” in 2003, depicting the first-ever Indian superhero genre of science-fiction films.

Hrithik almost did not make the movie because he had to undergo brain surgery. The surgery was to remove a blood clot. It was really inspiring to hear him share how surviving the operation made him feel like a real superhero.

I believe in choosing challenges that will help me grow as a human being and find my boundaries, and then cross them. As I say to everyone, it takes you only three seconds to decide if you are a superhero or not. I decided I am.

His words speak true and resonate that there is a superhero in all of us, and we can overcome our fears and obstacles by just changing the shift in our thoughts. Hrithik is so inspired by his superhero character that he wears the symbol of Krrish on his wrist wherever he goes. He says it reminds him of his journey and provides the strength to always move forward in life.

Finally, it was my chance! I was lucky to be the one to ask Hrithik his last question at the press conference; it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment for me. When I asked, from his journey as an actor till Krrish 3 and beyond where does he envision himself as being – the best actor or the biggest star? He eloquently answered, “There is no such thing as being the best actor or biggest star; you just have to be the best person from within and stay true to yourself.”

You just have to be the best person from within and stay true to yourself.

Krrish 3 is to be the most anticipated Bollywood film of 2013 and it will be released here during Deepavali in November. Hrithik plays the film’s protagonist Krishna and Krrish – a superhero.

The film also features the two beautiful Bollywood actresses Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut. In the new movie, audiences will get to see Hrithik fighting mutants. Both Hrithik and his father said it is a high budget film, which aims to match Hollywood in terms of effects and stunts; however, identifies to incorporate the essential Bollywood elements like song and dance numbers.

I really admire Hrithik for being both a ‘reel’ and ‘real’ hero. Hrithik’s undying spirit and his passion to conquer hurdles is what keeps him going and will continue to do so, making him a superhero in everyone’s hearts, especially in mine.
